AccuForm® lead wires are produced utilizing
Torpedo Specialty Wire’s proprietary Copper Cladded Steel
Technology, assuring a base material of uniform and consistent metallurgical
properties. A perfect metallurgical bond is established between
the steel core and copper cladding, assuring consistency during
all further processing. A unique Heat Treatment following drawing,
is precisely controlled, the result of which is uniformity of physical
properties within the lot, and minimal variation from lot to lot,
never before possible. The surface of the lead wire is specially
blanketed with inert atmosphere during heat treatment, to assure
outstanding solderability following electro-plating with the customers
choice of solder compositions.
AccuForm® precision lead wires offer avoidance of both
age and strain hardening, assuring consistent lead forming characteristics
during component fabrication, and later, aid in controlling insertion
mechanics during circuit board assembly.
Uniformity of mechanical properties reduces set-up
time, and necessitates fewer tooling adjustments, such as those
associated with lead wire memory anomalies. Consistent results are
achieved during cold heading operations, particularly with higher
head to lead diameter ratios. Solderability is tested to be in compliance
with Mil Std. 202, Method 208, including the 8-hour steam aging
requirements
